Nontapol Attanand

Bio

Colonel Kreingkai Attanand served in the Korean War as a member of the Royal Thai Army, participating in the first rotation from Thailand. He fought in Pusan and advanced north towards Pyongyang, commanding more than a thousand men. His account has been shared by his grandson, Nontapol Attanand, who is also a Lieutenant Colonel in the Royal Thai Army. Although his grandfather passed away before he was born, he has enjoyed learning about his grandfather through stories from his father. He and his father also served in Korea at various times throughout their military careers, and they have been pleased to witness the progress made since the war. He felt his grandfather would have been proud to see the recovery and democratization that have occurred, knowing he played a role in fighting against the spread of communism.
